Infant Developmental Movement Classes
Facilitated By: Emily Feit, MS, OTR/L, RSMT
Wednesdays
3:30-4:45pm
April 15, 22, 29, May 6
This 4-week series offers a supportive space for caregivers to slow down and observe the miraculous unfolding of their baby’s development. Drawing on the principles of Body-Mind Centering® and Occupational Therapy, we will look closely at the movement patterns and small skills that make up baby’s developmental “milestones” and the neurological foundations that support lifelong growth.
Through gentle touch and guided play, we will explore how infants begin to perceive and move into their world. Parents learn practical handling tools to help your baby navigate common early challenges—from improving digestion and sleep to finding ease in tummy time—and to support optimal movement progression. Emily meets each child’s developmental moment and natural curiosity in hands-on facilitation, within a playful environment where both baby and grown-up can bond and thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions
My baby is not really moving yet. Is this class for us?
YES. This class teaches handling techniques as well as information about positioning, play, and other topics that are relevant for babies who are not yet rolling or crawling.
If my baby is already walking, is it too late?
Babies who are still in the early phases of walking (e.g. pulling to stand, walking while holding furniture, taking just a couple of steps independently) can still benefit from this class.
What should I bring?
If you like you can bring a comfortable blanket for your baby to lie on and any small, familiar toys they enjoy.
What if my baby sleeps or cries during class?
All “baby behavior” is welcome! We follow the baby’s lead. If they sleep, you will still benefit from observing the movement patterns and practicing the handling techniques.
Is this class appropriate for babies with reflux or latching issues?
Yes. The somatic approach is particularly helpful for calming the nervous system and supporting physical comfort during feeding.
“Two people helped me survive my first year of motherhood–my lactation consultant and Emily. As a first-time mother I wasn’t quite prepared for a child with acid reflux. Emily showed me how to hold and nurse Aiden in such a way that helped him relax and become more comfortable – and it considerably reduced his crying! As his digestion improved, she coached us on how to help him learn to roll over, crawl, and to direct his focus to toys and activities. Aiden is two now, and we know that the work Emily did to ensure balanced, age-appropriate growth and advancement continues to pay off for all of us.”

“I highly recommend Emily’s developmental movement classes. Coming into the class with just curiosity, I had no idea the importance of proper infant movement. Not only was she able to explain why some toys and playing positions are more optimal for development, but, simultaneously, she was able to show me how to do these things in a way that my baby now enjoys, like tummy time. This class is a unique experience, and Emily is a supportive, attentive, empowering, and knowledgeable teacher.”
