Shared Stage Performance
March 7 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Join us for a delightful evening of short performances! This special evening features 3-6 performances, each 10-20 minutes long from artists of different disciplines. This is a chance for artists to share work, or excerpts of their work, alongside other artists. Audiences will be given the option to write a note for each artist, sharing their experience of the work. This is a wonderful opportunity for artists to receive feedback about the impact of their work, and for audiences to feel into the impact of each piece. The mixture of pieces – from dance, to music, to theater, to visual art, to experimental art – makes for a fun, inspiring, and diverse evening.

In March we are thrilled to present a variety of experimental theater, improvisation, dance, and music created and performed by local artists ⎯ Dagen the Pagan, Anri Nakano, Gathering Wild, Olivier Besson, Tiffany Wilson and Carlos Feitoza.
Out There, In There
Performed by: Dagan the Pagan
Description:
Tonight’s show will be a few small solo acts, each unique with their own flavor and message, as well as a complex, environmental performance event involving many audience volunteers.
Artist Bio:
The career span of my life goes from music teacher to children’s entertainer to clown to performance artist. In my active 70’s, I seek to combine my greatest interests – children, the arts, nature, community, and spirituality – into a unified whole as a stage persona that lives in the land of the absurd. I am thrilled to be at a point in my life where I have mastered many forms of creative expression and can just simply allow myself to blossom into a full blown stage presence with a mission to help the world.

Unbroken
Performed by: Anri Nakano
Music by: Les Souvenirs et les Émotions by Ludovico Einaudi, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free by Nina Simone, Rose Bay by Ludovico Einaudi
Description:
Life has an interesting way of surprising you. Several years ago, I was betrayed and experienced heartache and despair unlike any other time in my life. My heart was shattered, my spirit was weary, and it almost broke me. I kept walking through that dark tunnel for a long time. Now I am on the other side, feeling the light on my skin, soaking up the warmth, breathing in fresh air, and reaching my hands up to the sky.
Artist Bio:
Anri Nakano was born in Fukuoka, Japan. As a child, she loved hiding in her secret fort, making up songs, and dancing freely. Through her work today, she continues to tap into that frolic energy. As a dance educator, she works with elementary and middle school children, creating student-centered experiences that invite imagination, creativity, and social-emotional learning. As a solo artist, her work has been presented in New York City, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Philadelphia, Sweden, and Japan. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance/Theatre from CUNY Lehman College and a teaching certificate from the Dance Education Laboratory.

Also notable , Gathering Wild began in Atlanta and has resumed a life in the HV under the direction of Jerylann Warner.

A Time Upon Once

Description:
Improvisation is a direction of effort… never a result. How do we create a dance with space, allowing it to flower in our presence?
Artist Bio:
Olivier Besson is a Boston based movement artist of Japanese and French heritage. He was introduced to the notion of dance and community through his exposure to ecstatic dance, his subsequent training in contact improvisation and his ritual practice of Bugaku (Japanese court dance). He has been involved with the study and inquiry of improvisation ever since. His performances have been presented in France, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, India and the US. He is on faculty at The Boston Conservatory At Berklee where he curates Moment’s Notice, an interdisciplinary improv performance series.
