SUMMARY:Cuddle Party
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Facilitator-in-Training Tommy “Captain Cuddles” Seda \n\n\n\nAt WildHeart: Center for Performance and Embodiment Practice \n\n\n\nThird Saturdays\, 5:30-9:00pm \n\n\n\nFor ages 17 and over \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n$30 per person \n\n\n\n*Please reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister to Join Us!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cuddle Party!\n\n\n\nA workshop on Consent and Communication\, cleverly disguised as a Pajama Party. \n\n\n\nHave recent events left you feeling deprived of opportunities for touch? Do you feel stressed\, overwhelmed\, isolated\, or alone? Have you ever said yes when you really wanted to say no? Do you struggle to ask for what you really want?  \n\n\n\nIf any of this sounds like you or you are just curious then you are invited to pack your PJs\, your favorite pillow\, and a snack to share and give yourself the gift of a Cuddle Party. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat Happens at a Cuddle Party?\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFirst\, A Welcome Circle & Mini-Workshop \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter you arrive at the event location\, sign in\, and change into pajamas in the private changing area\, the Cuddle Party starts with an hour-long Welcome Circle\, led by Tommy Seda \n\n\n\nThis Welcome Circle is where we create the structure and safe space for the socializing to follow. It is also where we break the ice and get a group of strangers to feel not so strange to one another. This is where you and other Cuddle Party participants can… \n\n\n\n\nIntroduce yourselves\,\n\n\n\nLearn about the Cuddle Party philosophy\,\n\n\n\nGet oriented to the Cuddle Party rules\,\n\n\n\nPractice the Cuddle Party communication skills\n\n\n\nBe led through a few ice-breaker exercises\n\n\n\nAs the Welcome Circle concludes\, most participants find themselves feeling surprised by how comfortable they feel.\n\n\n\n\nThen\, Two Hours of Self-Directed Connection \n\n\n\nNow it is time for you to ask for what you want\, say yes and no to requests and invitations\, cuddle according to your desires and comfort (or just talk if you prefer)\, connect with fascinating people\, “cuddle mingle\,” and\, ultimately\, relax into the flow of an unusually playful and respectful social environment. \n\n\n\nSome participants cuddle in groups\, others one-on-one\, while some like to talk and not cuddle for a time\, or not at all. Cuddling can mean feet against feet\, full-body hugs\, head-rubs\, spooning — it is\, indeed\, up to you. And\, configurations and positions shift significantly throughout the event\, thanks in part to Rule 6 Change your mind & keep yourself happy. \n\n\n\nAlso throughout the event\, the Cuddle Party Facilitators participate with you so that you can feel relaxed and supported and have a great time with your experiences. \n\n\n\nThe socializing and cuddling\, like the Welcome Circle\, all take place in our cozy environment\, enhanced by an eclectic and charming mix of music played at a volume that allows easily for conversation. There are cookies\, fruit\, munchies\, juice and no intoxicants (other than the oxytocin\, that is). \n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Facilitator:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTommy “Captain Cuddles” Seda has always followed the philosophy he learned as a teen of “learn one\, do one\, teach one”. With that motto driving him\,  he has been teaching and facilitating programs that range from one hour workshops to summer long camps. He has held certifications as instructor with several private and government organizations. Currently his passion for teaching is focused on cuddle parties where he is a facilitator in training enrolled in the Cuddle Party Inc training program. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“What Else Do I Need To Know?”\n\n\n\nThis event is non sexual\, drug and alcohol free\, and limited to participants who are 17+ \n\n\n\nPlease bring a blanket\, pillow\, and healthy snack to share! \n\n\n\nAlso a reusable water bottle so we can save on plastic use 🙂 \n\n\n\nDoors will be locked at 6:15 as no one may join after the opening circle has started. \n\n\n\nThis event is non sexual\, drug and alcohol free\, and limited to participants who are 17+ \n\n\n\nCOVID PROTOCOL: Please present a negative rapid test. \n\n\n\nIf you test positive or are not feeling well\, please stay home. SUMMARY:Catalyst with Neva
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays 11am-1pm OR 5:30-7:30 EST  \n\n\n\nOn Zoom \n\n\n\nDates: February 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 and March 7\, 14\, 21 \n\n\n\n7-week class series on Tuesdays 11am-1pm OR 5:30-7:30 EST  \n\n\n\n***Only one of these sessions will run based on which is more popular: morning or evening. When registering\, you will be prompted to let me know which timing you prefer. I will announce the time of the class that will run by January 31st. You will be refunded if you cannot make the class and don’t want to do it via the recording.*** \n\n\n\n\n\n$165 Registration deadline February 5thBIPOC pay-what-you-want* Reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClass Description\n\n\n\nCatalyst is a unique fusion of free movement\, cardio\, strength training\, yoga\, and breathwork. It’s a hugely body positive\, life affirming workout\, spiritual experience\, and infusion of joy.  \n\n\n\nI developed this workshop based on the blend of practices that have trained and healed my body over and over (most recently after birth!). This is a durational practice. Over the course of two hours\, we will rest and sweat\, feel and dance\, perhaps even laugh and cry.  \n\n\n\nWe start resting\, feeling\, and breathing. From there we follow the music into dance\, moving freely following the guidance of our bodies. Once we are warm and moving\, we head into cardio. Working with interval training\, we work our hearts and muscles to their full capacity. Next is a beautiful flow through yoga asanas to calm the nerves and align the tissues. Followed by a brief foray into shaking before we dive into Ballet Barra style strength training\, targeting specific muscles through isolated movements. And finally\, we end with a long period of stretching and breathwork.  \n\n\n\nDuring this 2-hour embodied experience\, there is space for you to be you in the body you have now. Connect to yourself\, train your body\, work with your mind. It truly is a full body/mind reset.  \n\n\n\n“My experience of Catalyst Training with Neva was a full mind\, body\, spirit nourishing and full contact experience. Neva’s shared wild vibrant energy is truly contagious.” \n\n\n\n—Maria Pilar Pina\, Alexandria\, Virginia \n\n\n\nWhat people are saying about Neva’s classes on Zoom:\n\n\n\n“That was amazing! NEVA is amazing. Thank you for the wonderful class. I can’t wait to join again. I left feeling such joy in my body and spirit!” \n\n\n\n“Neva’s class gave me hope and courage as I’m facing a lot of unknowns in my life right now. She helped me remember that my body has wisdom and can heal… and that it’s good to listen.” \n\n\n\n“What Neva offers in how she thinks about yoga\, dance\, and relationship to body as home has been such a gift for me.” \n\n\n\n“I experienced some rich and vivid sensations during practice with Neva – which is so nice since I’ve found it hard to cultivate that richness in other online spaces.” \n\n\n\nWhat do I need to know?\n\n\n\nSet yourself up in a room with as much space as possible (at least enough to fit a yoga mat)\, ideally an environment that supports you to feel good and have privacy. \n\n\n\nYou will need a yoga mat\, a sturdy chair or surface to lean on\, a cushion or chair to sit upright on\, blankets and/or pillows for supported rest\, and a water bottle.  \n\n\n\nIf you’d like to use blocks\, or any other type of support to help you modify\, bring these as well.  \n\n\n\nWear clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move freely\, and ideally help you feel good in your beautiful body! \n\n\n\nA journal and pen for reflections at the end.  \n\n\n\nI will do my best to start and end class on time. The Zoom room will be open a few minutes before we begin. Please do your best to come a few minutes early so we can all begin together. \n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNeva Cockrell is a professional dancer\, interdisciplinary artist\, and embodiment teacher. She danced with Pilobolus in 2016 – 2019 touring to Germany\, Switzerland\, Austria\, China\, Mexico\, Israel\, Dubai\, and within the US both as a dancer and as the Dance Captain. She is also a writer and director who uses dance-theater as a tool for social change. In 2010 she co-founded her own interdisciplinary company\, Loom Ensemble\, based in NYC which has toured across the US\, Europe\, and UAE. She is passionate about using Loom Ensemble performances to open difficult conversations\, and then facilitate community discussion to unpack the emotional vulnerability and cultural taboos of each show. She was recently awarded the New Work New England grant from NEFA as a director for Loom’s newest upcoming piece. \n\n\n\nShe has been teaching dance\, theater\, and embodiment practices for over a decade\, including opening Physique 57’s first international studio in Dubai and developing her own movement technique\, Catalyst. Her diverse background in gymnastics\, partner acrobatics\, contact improvisation\, Capoeira Angola\, and Yoga inspire her unique style of Contemporary Dance in both her choreography and her classes. She is yoga teacher certified through Simple Yoga with Eric Stewart\, and is deeply passionate about the overlap of somatic work and breaking down systems of oppression. \n\n\n\nIn 2012\, she joined the Art Monastery Project\, and served as a co-director from 2014-2021 running programming in Italy\, Colorado\, and Vermont.  \n\n\n\nShe has been practicing meditation for over 15 years\, and has found beautiful overlap in her artistic creations and her meditation practice. Her life path is deeply grounded in communal living\, body-based activities\, art-making\, being outside\, and contemplative practice. She now lives\, works\, teaches\, and creates at WildHeart: Center for Performance and Embodiment Practice (founded by Neva and her partner Raphael) in the Hudson Valley. \n\n\n\nA important note on class level and caring for yourself:\n\n\n\nYou are responsible for your own health and safety. By signing up for these classes\, you agree to take full responsibility for your own health and well being\, and agree to NOT hold Neva Cockrell accountable for any injuries you may incur during class. Especially in an online format\, the teacher cannot help with specific alignment and corrections\, so you must take extra care for yourself. You know your body more than anyone else\, and you are responsible and able to choose what is best for you today! \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Organizer\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue

SUMMARY:Somatic Meditation with Neva
DESCRIPTION:On Zoom \n\n\n\nDates: February 6\, 13\, 20\, 27 and March 6\, 13\, 20 \n\n\n\n7-week class series on Mondays 11-11:45am EST \n\n\n\n\n\n$115 Registration deadline February 5thBIPOC pay-what-you-want* Reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClass Description\n\n\n\nSomatic practice supports us to intentionally connect with our physical bodies\, our emotions\, our minds\, and how we relate to the world outside us. Through these practices we can study our patterning in each of these “layers” of ourselves and how the different layers overlap. This work can be incredibly useful for getting to know ourselves better\, shifting habitual patterns\, and creating a healing path. It is also a powerful tool for understanding how and why we relate to others and the world around us\, and how societal power structures impact our choices.  \n\n\n\nIn Somatic Meditation\, we will begin with an introduction to the day’s focus and then move into guided practice. Most of the practice in this class will be in stillness\, sometimes sitting\, sometimes lying down\, sometimes standing. We may also explore some movement or walking\, depending on where the group’s interest goes!   \n\n\n\nEveryone\, all bodies\, all experience levels are welcome in this class. Though this is a particularly helpful class for people who have done Somatic Study and Explorations with me. Somatic Meditation is both foundational practice and where much of the more advanced work happens.  \n\n\n\nWhat people are saying about Neva’s classes on Zoom:\n\n\n\n“Neva’s class gave me hope and courage as I’m facing a lot of unknowns in my life right now. She helped me remember that my body has wisdom and can heal… and that it’s good to listen.” \n\n\n\n“I experienced some rich and vivid sensations during practice with Neva – which is so nice since I’ve found it hard to cultivate that richness in other online spaces.” \n\n\n\n“The work in our session\, which I’ve been practicing most every day\, has allowed me to re-inhabit my infant body. In one instance\, my arm actually ‘became’ a baby’s arm as my hand curled in\, then opened up. This new territory has invigorated the re-experiencing of my one year old self. There was trauma at 11 months\, and the somatic work we did gives me another doorway into that time. So grateful for our co-creation!” \n\n\n\nWhat do I need to know?\n\n\n\nBring a cushion or something to sit comfortable on. For some classes we will be in supported rest\, and you will need either a few blankets\, towels\, or pillows.  \n\n\n\nBring a journal and writing / drawing utensils to each class.  \n\n\n\nSet yourself up in an environment that supports you to feel good and have privacy.  \n\n\n\nWear clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move freely\, and ideally help you feel good in your beautiful body! \n\n\n\nI will do my best to start and end class on time.
