DESCRIPTION:Shake with Niki (in-person only) \n\n\n\n4:30 – 5:30pm Second Sunday of every month\, starting November 10th (60-75 mins) \n\n\n\nGroup Shake – A somatic movement practice during which we will shake to music or sometimes\, silence. Shaking\, individually but as part of a group to ground us\, can be healing as it is a natural way to relieve tension. You may choose to shake standing\, seated\, lying down or alternating between those depending on what your body needs in the moment. You can choose your own intensity\, when to stop or when to keep going as you listen to your own body. While it is important to keep ourselves open to what\, if anything\, may arise emotionally\, please only engage to the degree that you can still care for yourself. This is not a therapeutic space. The practice will start with a demonstration and it will end in silence. Dress comfortably and stay hydrated! \n\n\n\n$10-$25

DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop\n\n\n\nAt this 3 hour workshop session\, explore the creative process with Loom Song through voice\, rhythm\, and movement-based practices for vocal composition and improvisation\, drawing from their backgrounds in folk\, world music\, music theater and contemporary music.   \n\n\n\nBest suited for confident singers: no advanced expertise required\, but please come expecting “mid-level nerdery”\, as we engage with some of the musical complexity that enlivens our music. \n\n\n\nPerformance\n\n\n\nLoom Song is a vocal trio exploring the boundaries of the human voice and the intersections between composition and improvisation. Sasha\, Onome and Raffles are Loom Song\, who collectively come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds consisting of contemporary music\, world music\, folk\, jazz\, choral music\, and music theater; all which figure prominently in forming their unique sound and approach to singing. Shaking\, individually but as part of a group to ground us\, can be healing as it is a natural way to relieve tension. You may choose to shake standing\, seated\, lying down or alternating between those depending on what your body needs in the moment. You can choose your own intensity\, when to stop or when to keep going as you listen to your own body. While it is important to keep ourselves open to what\, if anything\, may arise emotionally\, please only engage to the degree that you can still care for yourself. This is not a therapeutic space. Morning Departures 9/27/24 \n\n\n\nFascia provides the tensegrity matrix of the whole body. It wraps around all other structures as one continuous spiraling\, multilayered\, and multidimensional network of expansive sheaths\, enclosed containers and specialized attachments. These specialized attachments are the ligaments. The ligaments set the boundaries of movement between the bones. They coordinate and guide muscular responses by directing the path of movement between the bones and provide specificity\, clarity\, and efficiency for the alignment and movement of the bones. When all of the ligaments of a joint are actively engaged\, the movement of that joint becomes highly specific and is carried effortlessly to surrounding and successive joints. Fascia supports the psychophysical quality of micromovements of condensing and expanding consciousness without specific content within the embracing context of unity. The ligaments support the psychophysical quality of detailed specificity.

Organs are the contents within the skeletal-flesh container and carry on the functions of our internal survival — breathing\, nourishment and elimination. Organs are the primary habitats or natural environments of our emotions\, aspirations\, and the memories of our inner reactions to our personal and social histories. They support our postural tone and our feelings\, and give volume to our movement.
