SUMMARY:lush & whole: welcoming our fat as an embodied resource
DESCRIPTION:Your fat is pulsating with more energy density than any other tissue in your body but most of us haven’t been invited to connect with it. What becomes possible when you have more of your body to feel and move with? In “Lush & Whole: Welcoming our Fat as an Embodied Resource” you will spend 3 nights exploring your fat somatically and creatively\, to discover what emerges when you let your fat be felt and known. \n\n\n\nFaciliated by Jules Pashall & Laura McCunniff Reid

SUMMARY:Loom Ensemble March Devising Intensive
DESCRIPTION:We are beginning the development process for Loom Ensemble’s next show\, and are welcoming new collaborators into the creative process! \n\n\n\nThis fall\, winter and spring\, we’ll gather about once a month for either a long weekend or full week intensives\, at WildHeart: a performance incubation / retreat space in the Hudson Valley. In these creative workperiods\, we welcome performers (dancers\, actors\, musicians)\, writers\, composers\, designers\, dramaturgs — we’ll be approaching the material from all angles.  \n\n\n\nThis is a body positive\, queer\, anti-racist space. The work is explicitly political\, leaning into raw conversations\, but centering wellbeing and respect for the artist throughout.

SUMMARY:Sacred Vessel Workshop with Sound Healing
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Cari Skier \n\n\n\nAt WildHeart: Center for Performance and Embodiment Practice \n\n\n\n10am-4pm\, Saturday March 23\, 2024 \n\n\n\nThe Sacred Vessel Workshop is a full-day retreat of integrating the art-making process with a live\, immersive\, healing soundscape to help you release the things that no longer serve you. \n\n\n\nThis workshop explores the Japanese art of Kintsugi and the philosophy of Wabi Sabi as a means of self-acceptance and healing. \n\n\n\nThe vessel represents us as an individual\, we are vessels that hold many things. But sometimes we break and need to be put back together. Our brokenness changes us\, makes us who we are. And so we will break and then repair our bowls by painting\, collaging and writing and highlighting our beautiful cracks with gold.  Expressing through images and words\, all the hidden components that make us\, us. This is a deeply personal process that will challenge you to embrace your imperfections with self-compassion and love.No artistic skills necessary\,All materials provided. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n$75 per person \n\n\n\n*Please reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister to Join Us!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nWho is it for?  Anyone interested in exploring art-making as a process for healing. No prior skills needed. \n\n\n\nDo I need to bring anything? Just a bag lunch! All workshop materials are provided. \n\n\n\nDo I need to be an artist to participate in this workshop? No\, no art skills are necessary. Anyone can do this activity. \n\n\n\nWhat is Sound Healing? Sound Healing\, or sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources\, including healing instruments such as gongs\, crystal singing bowls\, percussion\, chimes\, rattles\, tuning forks\, and even the human voice itself. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Facilitator:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCari Skier is a Therapeutic Art Specialist & Certified Sound Healing Practitioner. SUMMARY:Vocal Flow: a Circlesinging and Vocal Improv Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Embrace your voice and unique creativity! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitated by Onome \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister to Join\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis intensive provides a safe and fun space to practice embodying core principles of spontaneous vocal composition: listening\, attunement\, courage\, self-trust\, compassion\, dynamics\, and the spirit of play. We will focus on the building blocks of vocal improvisation to develop awareness\, skills\, confidence and cohesion. \n\n\n\nI will share the techniques I’ve synthesized from my studies with Bobby McFerrin\, Rihannon\, Meredith Monk\, Música do Círculo\, theater improv\, folk music\, hip-hop freestyle\, sound healing\, archetypes\, chakras\, somatic experiencing\, and mindfulness practices. \n\n\n\nEach participant will have opportunities to create\, lead and support improvised songs. You will also learn tools for how to get “unstuck” and maintain the flow of your creativity in any improvisational context. \n\n\n\nOpen to singers of all backgrounds and experience levels! All that is required is the desire to connect in a welcoming circle of voices.  \n\n\n\nYou will walk away with a deeper awareness of your creative signature\, a greater appreciation for your unique expression\, and an increased capacity to connect with your own heart\, and the hearts of others through voice. \n\n\n\nI recommend that you keep a water bottle handy during the intensive\, and wear clothes that allow freedom of movement and breath \n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n10:30am – Doors open for arrival \n\n\n\n11am – Opening +Intros \n\n\n\n11:30am – Vocal Flow: Part 1 \n\n\n\n1pm – Lunch (Bring your own lunch) \n\n\n\n2pm – Vocal Flow: Part 2 \n\n\n\n3:30pm – Break \n\n\n\n3:40pm – Circlesinging  \n\n\n\n4:40pm – Debrief + Processing \n\n\n\n5pm – Closing Circle \n\n\n\nWho is it for?\n\n\n\nExpressive arts enthusiasts whose souls are deeply nourished by community vocal rituals. \n\n\n\nPeople looking to bring more inspiration into every aspect of their life – work\, hobbies\, relationships – so that they can live from a state of purpose and joy. \n\n\n\nPeople looking to invest in creative nourishment in a supportive community. \n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\nQ: I’m not a “singer.” Can I work with you? \n\n\n\nA: Absolutely! The goal of our work together is not based on traditional vocal coaching. \n\n\n\nThe goal is for you to listen to yourself more deeply\, move through negative judgment and trust the impulses of your imagination\, and revitalize your creative mojo. \n\n\n\n\nRegister to Join\n\n\n\n\n\n\n View this post on Instagram A post shared by Onome | Vocal Embodiment & Holistic Well-Being (@onome.om) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Facilitator\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnome opens hearts by generating a field of courage for all voices to emerge. \n\n\n\nShe facilitates transformative experiences at the intersection of voice\, creativity\, and mindfulness. DESCRIPTION:During this two-week artistic research workshop and performance project with Brussels Theater Director Pascal Buyse we will explore how ‘immortality and the human urge to transcend death’ influence our modern-day life and today’s connection with nature. By connecting mystical tales from the past with today’s connection with nature\, we explore together the deeper layers of the theme of impermanence and how it resonates throughout the ages. The project will culminate in a performance open to the public on August 1st at WildHeart.

SUMMARY:Performance: The Desire for Immortality
DESCRIPTION:“Desire for Immortality” composer Sasha Bogdanowitsch\, performing in WildHeart’s Barn.\n\n\n\n“The Desire For Immortality” is a theatrical summer ritual where you\, as the audience\, together with the artists and performers\, plant many seeds of ideas and stories in the beautiful gardens\, forests\, and lake of the WildHeart. Don’t miss this unique event—come and experience this artistic theatrical ritual where we embrace and share the power and beauty of art with one another. \n\n\n\nThe story can be read as a homosexual relationship between Enkidu and Gilgamesh. But whenyou dive deeper into the story\, you encounter timeless questions and discover the narrativeblueprint of our contemporary (popular) storytelling culture. The common thread throughout thistale\, about the connection of the “civilized” modern human with (the wild) pristine nature\, wasthe impetus to take on the challenge of designing a sensory performance tailored to the gardensof WildHeart. Thursday\, August 1\, at 7:00 PM is the result of this two week performance research process. \n\n\n\n\n\nLast summer’s show at WildHeart\n\n\n\nBelgian queer theatermaker Pascal Buyse is fascinated by the story of Gilgamesh. The Epic of Gilgamesh\, one of the oldest stories of humanity\, follows the mortal hero Gilgamesh onhis quest for identity after the death of his friend (lover) Enkidu. His journey leads him through untapped riches and offers opportunities for reflection on the fleeting nature of life. This timeless theme of humanity’s desire to transcend death echoes through the ages.

DESCRIPTION:ORGANS 9/6 – 9/16/2024 (days off 9/11 & 9/12)Arrivals\, orientation and welcome dinner 9/6\, Morning departures 9/16 (day off if you’re staying for Ligaments and Fascia…) \n\n\n\nOur organs are vital and alive. They provide us with our sense of self\, full-bodiedness\, and organic authenticity. Organs are the contents within the skeletal-flesh container and carry on the functions of our internal survival — breathing\, nourishment and elimination. Organs are the primary habitats or natural environments of our emotions\, aspirations\, and the memories of our inner reactions to our personal and social histories. They support our postural tone and our feelings\, and give volume to our movement.

SUMMARY:Somatic Movement Education Program - Ligamentous & Fascial Module
DESCRIPTION:LIGAMENTOUS & FASCIAL- 9/17 – 9/27/24 (days off 9/22 & 9/23)Arrivals\, orientation and welcome dinner 9/17. Morning Departures 9/27/24 \n\n\n\nFascia provides the tensegrity matrix of the whole body. It wraps around all other structures as one continuous spiraling\, multilayered\, and multidimensional network of expansive sheaths\, enclosed containers and specialized attachments. These specialized attachments are the ligaments. The ligaments set the boundaries of movement between the bones. They coordinate and guide muscular responses by directing the path of movement between the bones and provide specificity\, clarity\, and efficiency for the alignment and movement of the bones. When all of the ligaments of a joint are actively engaged\, the movement of that joint becomes highly specific and is carried effortlessly to surrounding and successive joints. Fascia supports the psychophysical quality of micromovements of condensing and expanding consciousness without specific content within the embracing context of unity. The ligaments support the psychophysical quality of detailed specificity.

SUMMARY:The Poetry of Human Encounter: An Introduction to Biodanza
DESCRIPTION:Biodanza is a form of human development that uses dance\, music\, movement and ritual to embody the deep humanity we wish to root in our selves and our community. It is an antidote to the less than kind\, less than healthy\, culture that we presently live in. Biodanza is an invitation for each individual to cultivate “Vivencia” – the experience of being fully and joyfully alive in the moment with our community. Biodanza encourages us to rekindle our connection to self\, others and the world through dancing the simple and beautiful gestures of everyday life\, including circles\, walking\, taking hands\, encounters\, hugs\, touch\, caress\, witnessing\, rhythm and joy. From the state of awareness experienced in Vivencia\, we can weave dances of simple and profound presence. In Vivencia\, we can open ourselves to passionate and blissful dialogues of sacredness\, humility\, and humanity. In the moving poetry of our encounters\, we can rediscover the joy and profound grace of being alive… together! Biodanza is not about any form of proficiency. It is a personal and cultural transformative practice for everyone who yearns to really live. Biodanza is for proficient dancers and people who still think they cannot dance.  \n\n\n\nCome dance with us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBIPOC spotsWe are offering 2 free spots for BIPOC folx. Please email contact@wildheartcenter.art to get the registration code for one of these spots. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBiodanza is an invitation to cultivate the experience of “Vivencia” — the ability to be profoundly present to experiencing life in each moment. \n\n\n\nBiodanza encourages us to explore the gestures and embodied vocabulary of Vivencia\, letting us rekindle our connection to self\, others\, and the world. Biodanza uses the simple and beautiful movements of everyday living\, including circles\, taking hands\, encounters\, hugs\, touch\, caress\, witnessing\, rhythm\, and joy. In service to the experience of Vivencia\, we weave dances of simple and profound presence. We open ourselves to passionate and blissful dialogues of sacredness\, humility\, and humanity. In the moving poetry of dance\, we rediscover the joy and profound grace of being alive… together! Biodanza is not about any form of proficiency. It is a personal and cultural transformative practice using dance and ritual for everyone who yearns to really live. Biodanza is for proficient dancers and people who still think they cannot dance.  \n\n\n\nBiodanza was created in the 1960s by the Chilean anthropologist and psychologist Rolando Toro Araneda. The Biodanza system is now found in 54 countries\, including Argentina\, Belgium\, Brazil\, Chile\, Colombia\, Czech Republic\, Ecuador\, France\, Germany\, Israel\, India\, Italy\, Netherlands\, New Zealand\, Norway\, Sweden\, Portugal\, Spain\, Switzerland\, United Kingdom\, Uruguay\, Venezuela\, Australia\, Japan\, South Africa\, United States\, Ireland and Russia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n Workshop from 7-9:30 pmOption to stay overnight at WildHeart before or after – come early or stay late. SUMMARY:Shake with Niki
DESCRIPTION:Shake with Niki (in-person only) \n\n\n\n4:30 – 5:30pm Second Sunday of every month\, starting November 10th (60-75 mins) \n\n\n\nGroup Shake – A somatic movement practice during which we will shake to music or sometimes\, silence. Shaking\, individually but as part of a group to ground us\, can be healing as it is a natural way to relieve tension. You may choose to shake standing\, seated\, lying down or alternating between those depending on what your body needs in the moment. You can choose your own intensity\, when to stop or when to keep going as you listen to your own body. While it is important to keep ourselves open to what\, if anything\, may arise emotionally\, please only engage to the degree that you can still care for yourself. This is not a therapeutic space. The practice will start with a demonstration and it will end in silence. Dress comfortably and stay hydrated! \n\n\n\n$10-$25

The workshop will begin with a technique-based warm up with an emphasis on grace\, strength\, and body awareness. Next\, we’ll do a series of exercises to build specific Contemporary Dance skills and an ability to move freely with ease. We’ll then learn a contemporary phrase\, practicing full-body movement and musicality. All the while breathing\, connecting\, and generally having a great time! Neva’s unique style of contemporary dance blends modern techniques and somatic movement\, with a touch of both ballet and acrobatics.  \n\n\n\n\nJanuary 16: Somatic Movement Exploration \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNikita Patel (she/her)  \n\n\n\nWe will use both language and other parts of the brain-body to create individual movement vocabulary to help make sense of everyday life experiences.  \n\n\n\nJanuary 23: BIODANZA\, THE ART OF VIVENCIA* \n\n\n\nCircles\, walks\, dances\, games\, archetypal gestures\, authentic encounters with oneself\, others\, the world\, music and silence… Biodanza is an invitation to cultivate the «Art of Vivencia»\, the ability to be completely invested in the moment. It allows us to explore gesture as the vocabulary that creates the songs of our lives and to rekindle our connection to self\, \n\n\n\nothers and the world. Reconnecting with simple movements of everyday living\, we’ll weave our dances in passionate blissful dialogues of humanity\, in moving poetry\, rediscovering the joy and profound grace of being alive… together! \n\n\n\n*Biodanza is for everyone\, proficient dancers and people \n\n\n\nwho still think they cannot dance. \n\n\n\n**Please note this workshop is from 6-8:30. \n\n\n\n\nJanuary 30: Partnering  \n\n\n\nCourtney Moreno (she/they) \n\n\n\nWe will warm up by playing with how the solo body can partner with the floor\, walls\, and each other\, through relating as well as using touch/contact. Partnering phrases will be taught as well as generated through prompts\, and lead to a final group dance. \n\n\n\nFebruary 6: Collaborative Explorations through Scores: Mutually Authored Improvisation \n\n\n\nLauren Mark 麥心怡 (she/her) \n\n\n\nClass will be a combination of suggestions and invitations for shared offerings\, following a theme inspired by seasonal elements and movements from Chinese medicine. In January\, Lauren will start by suggesting circular and spiraling movement sequences to warm the body\, collecting energy through a centripetal\, inner-directed energetic focus that mirrors that of winter’s corresponding element – water. Movers will then be invited to collaboratively create scores\, a method that takes ideas\, images\, and metaphors to set up exercises for everyone to explore the theme in motion\, together. Lauren is interested in inviting everyone who shows up to dance opportunities for mutual inspiration and individual spontaneity\, experimenting with both the familiar and unfamiliar. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 13: Moving Musically and Theatrically  \n\n\n\nJerylann Warner (she/her) \n\n\n\nTogether we will learn fun phrases that bring lyrics to life! What makes choreography musical and theatrical is typically performative for sure but it also requires cunning acuity and full on expression. Like living room dancing and shower singing.  \n\n\n\nExpect to learn phrases that are staged\, singing is NOT required but welcome. All levels. \n\n\n\n\nFebruary 20 BIODANZA\, THE ART OF VIVENCIA* \n\n\n\nCircles\, walks\, dances\, games\, archetypal gestures\, authentic encounters with oneself\, others\, the world\, music and silence… Biodanza is an invitation to cultivate the «Art of Vivencia»\, the ability to be completely invested in the moment. Supported by the space in and around us\, as well as the room as a whole\, we will utilize various kinds of music/sound\, guided kinesthetic imagery and hands-on partner studies. Through our practice together\, we will cultivate letting go of unnecessary tension(s) and\, at one’s own pace\, allow for new movement possibilities to arise. \n\n\n\nReleasing is beneficial to movers at any level\, with or without previous dance training\, to people recovering from injuries\, as well as to professional dancers\, actors\, musicians and artists of all kinds. This class is OPEN TO ALL. \n\n\n\nMarch 6: BIODANZA\, THE ART OF VIVENCIA* \n\n\n\nCircles\, walks\, dances\, games\, archetypal gestures\, authentic encounters with oneself\, others\, the world\, music and silence… Biodanza is an invitation to cultivate the «Art of Vivencia»\, the ability to be completely invested in the moment.
