SUMMARY:Somatic Meditation with Neva
DESCRIPTION:On Zoom \n\n\n\nDates: February 6\, 13\, 20\, 27 and March 6\, 13\, 20 \n\n\n\n7-week class series on Mondays 11-11:45am EST \n\n\n\n\n\n$115 Registration deadline February 5thBIPOC pay-what-you-want* Reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClass Description\n\n\n\nSomatic practice supports us to intentionally connect with our physical bodies\, our emotions\, our minds\, and how we relate to the world outside us. Through these practices we can study our patterning in each of these “layers” of ourselves and how the different layers overlap. This work can be incredibly useful for getting to know ourselves better\, shifting habitual patterns\, and creating a healing path. It is also a powerful tool for understanding how and why we relate to others and the world around us\, and how societal power structures impact our choices.  \n\n\n\nIn Somatic Meditation\, we will begin with an introduction to the day’s focus and then move into guided practice. Most of the practice in this class will be in stillness\, sometimes sitting\, sometimes lying down\, sometimes standing. We may also explore some movement or walking\, depending on where the group’s interest goes!   \n\n\n\nEveryone\, all bodies\, all experience levels are welcome in this class. Though this is a particularly helpful class for people who have done Somatic Study and Explorations with me. Somatic Meditation is both foundational practice and where much of the more advanced work happens.  \n\n\n\nWhat people are saying about Neva’s classes on Zoom:\n\n\n\n“Neva’s class gave me hope and courage as I’m facing a lot of unknowns in my life right now. She helped me remember that my body has wisdom and can heal… and that it’s good to listen.” \n\n\n\n“I experienced some rich and vivid sensations during practice with Neva – which is so nice since I’ve found it hard to cultivate that richness in other online spaces.” \n\n\n\n“The work in our session\, which I’ve been practicing most every day\, has allowed me to re-inhabit my infant body. In one instance\, my arm actually ‘became’ a baby’s arm as my hand curled in\, then opened up. This new territory has invigorated the re-experiencing of my one year old self. There was trauma at 11 months\, and the somatic work we did gives me another doorway into that time. So grateful for our co-creation!” \n\n\n\nWhat do I need to know?\n\n\n\nBring a cushion or something to sit comfortable on. For some classes we will be in supported rest\, and you will need either a few blankets\, towels\, or pillows.  \n\n\n\nBring a journal and writing / drawing utensils to each class.  \n\n\n\nSet yourself up in an environment that supports you to feel good and have privacy.  \n\n\n\nWear clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move freely\, and ideally help you feel good in your beautiful body! \n\n\n\nI will do my best to start and end class on time. The Zoom room will be open a few minutes before we begin. Please do your best to come a few minutes early so we can all begin together.  \n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNeva Cockrell is a professional dancer\, interdisciplinary artis\, and embodiment teacher. In 2010 she co-founded her own interdisciplinary company\, Loom Ensemble\, based in NYC which has toured across the US\, Europe\, and UAE. She is passionate about using Loom Ensemble performances to open difficult conversations\, and then facilitate community discussion to unpack the emotional vulnerability and cultural taboos of each show. She was recently awarded the New Work New England grant from NEFA as a director for Loom’s newest upcoming piece. \n\n\n\nShe has been teaching dance\, theater\, and embodiment practices for over a decade\, including opening Physique 57’s first international studio in Dubai and developing her own movement technique\, Catalyst. SUMMARY:Catalyst with Neva
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays 11am-1pm OR 5:30-7:30 EST  \n\n\n\nOn Zoom \n\n\n\nDates: February 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 and March 7\, 14\, 21 \n\n\n\n7-week class series on Tuesdays 11am-1pm OR 5:30-7:30 EST  \n\n\n\n***Only one of these sessions will run based on which is more popular: morning or evening. When registering\, you will be prompted to let me know which timing you prefer. I will announce the time of the class that will run by January 31st. You will be refunded if you cannot make the class and don’t want to do it via the recording.*** \n\n\n\n\n\n$165 Registration deadline February 5thBIPOC pay-what-you-want* Reach out if money is a barrier \n\n\n\n\nSign Up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClass Description\n\n\n\nCatalyst is a unique fusion of free movement\, cardio\, strength training\, yoga\, and breathwork. It’s a hugely body positive\, life affirming workout\, spiritual experience\, and infusion of joy.  \n\n\n\nI developed this workshop based on the blend of practices that have trained and healed my body over and over (most recently after birth!). This is a durational practice. Over the course of two hours\, we will rest and sweat\, feel and dance\, perhaps even laugh and cry.  \n\n\n\nWe start resting\, feeling\, and breathing. From there we follow the music into dance\, moving freely following the guidance of our bodies. Once we are warm and moving\, we head into cardio. Working with interval training\, we work our hearts and muscles to their full capacity. Next is a beautiful flow through yoga asanas to calm the nerves and align the tissues. Followed by a brief foray into shaking before we dive into Ballet Barra style strength training\, targeting specific muscles through isolated movements. And finally\, we end with a long period of stretching and breathwork.  \n\n\n\nDuring this 2-hour embodied experience\, there is space for you to be you in the body you have now. Connect to yourself\, train your body\, work with your mind. It truly is a full body/mind reset.  \n\n\n\n“My experience of Catalyst Training with Neva was a full mind\, body\, spirit nourishing and full contact experience. Neva’s shared wild vibrant energy is truly contagious.” \n\n\n\n—Maria Pilar Pina\, Alexandria\, Virginia \n\n\n\nWhat people are saying about Neva’s classes on Zoom:\n\n\n\n“That was amazing!
SUMMARY:Loom Ensemble February Devising Intensive - 5 Day
DESCRIPTION:We are beginning the development process for Loom Ensemble’s next show\, and are welcoming new collaborators into the creative process! \n\n\n\nThis fall\, winter and spring\, we’ll gather about once a month for either a long weekend or full week intensives\, at WildHeart: a performance incubation / retreat space in the Hudson Valley. In these creative workperiods\, we welcome performers (dancers\, actors\, musicians)\, writers\, composers\, designers\, dramaturgs — we’ll be approaching the material from all angles.  \n\n\n\nThis is a body positive\, queer\, anti-racist space. The work is explicitly political\, leaning into raw conversations\, but centering wellbeing and respect for the artist throughout.

When registering\, you will be prompted to let me know which timing you prefer. I will announce the time of the class that will run by January 31st.
