SUMMARY:Group Shake
DESCRIPTION:Group Shake (in-person only) \n\n\n\n5-6.30pm January 12 (60-75 mins) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGroup Shake – A somatic movement practice during which we will shake to music or sometimes\, silence. Shaking\, individually but as part of a group to ground us\, can be healing as it is a natural way to relieve tension. You may choose to shake standing\, seated\, lying down or alternating between those depending on what your body needs in the moment. You can choose your own intensity\, when to stop or when to keep going as you listen to your own body. While it is important to keep ourselves open to what\, if anything\, may arise emotionally\, please only engage to the degree that you can still care for yourself. This is not a therapeutic space. The practice will start with a demonstration and it will end in silence. Dress comfortably and stay hydrated! \n\n\n\n$10-$25 (with Sonic Immersion $8-20 – Come just for the Shake\, or stay on for the Sonic Immersion right after) \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nLocation – This workshop will take place in the Barn. If you’re coming to WildHeart for the first time\, please visit our Directions page for arrival info.

We’ll then learn a contemporary phrase\, practicing full-body movement and musicality. All the while breathing\, connecting\, and generally having a great time! Neva’s unique style of contemporary dance blends modern techniques and somatic movement\, with a touch of both ballet and acrobatics.  \n\n\n\n\nJanuary 16: Somatic Movement Exploration \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNiki Patel (she/her)  \n\n\n\nWe will use both language and other parts of the brain-body to create individual movement vocabulary to help make sense of everyday life experiences.  \n\n\n\nJanuary 23: BIODANZA\, THE ART OF VIVENCIA* \n\n\n\nCircles\, walks\, dances\, games\, archetypal gestures\, authentic encounters with oneself\, others\, the world\, music and silence… Biodanza is an invitation to cultivate the «Art of Vivencia»\, the ability to be completely invested in the moment. In January\, Lauren will start by suggesting circular and spiraling movement sequences to warm the body\, collecting energy through a centripetal\, inner-directed energetic focus that mirrors that of winter’s corresponding element – water. Movers will then be invited to collaboratively create scores\, a method that takes ideas\, images\, and metaphors to set up exercises for everyone to explore the theme in motion\, together. Lauren is interested in inviting everyone who shows up to dance opportunities for mutual inspiration and individual spontaneity\, experimenting with both the familiar and unfamiliar. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 13: Moving Musically and Theatrically  \n\n\n\nJerylann Warner (she/her) \n\n\n\nTogether we will learn fun phrases that bring lyrics to life! What makes choreography musical and theatrical is typically performative for sure but it also requires cunning acuity and full on expression. Like living room dancing and shower singing.  \n\n\n\nExpect to learn phrases that are staged\, singing is NOT required but welcome. SUMMARY:Somatic Movement Education Program - Nervous System Module
DESCRIPTION:NERVOUS SYSTEM 3/7 – 3/17/25 (days off 3/11 & 3/12)Arrivals\, orientation and welcome dinner 3/7/25. Morning Departures 3/17 (day off if you’re staying for Endocrine) \n\n\n\nExperience first occurs on the cellular level. The nervous system is the recording system of the body. It records our experiences and organizes them into patterns. It can then recall the experience and modify it by integrating it with patterns of other systems and previous experiences. The nervous system is the last to know\, but\, once knowing\, it becomes a major control center of psychophysical processes. It can initiate the learning of new experience through creativity and play. The nervous system underlies alertness\, thought\, and precision of coordination and establishes the perceptual base from which we view and interact with our internal and external worlds.

SUMMARY:Somatic Movement Education Program - Endocrine System Module
DESCRIPTION:ENDOCRINE SYSTEM 3/19 – 3/24/25 (days off 3/21)Arrivals\, orientation and welcome dinner 3/18 – morning Departures 3/25/25 \n\n\n\nThe endocrine glands are the major chemical governing system of the body and are closely aligned with the nervous system. Their secretions pass directly into the blood stream and their balance or imbalance influences all of the cells in the body. The glands are the keystone between the organs and the nervous system and between the nervous system and the fluids. They create crystalline psychophysical states through which we are able to experience and understand the universal aspect of self.  This is the system of internal stillness\, surges or explosions of chaos/balance and the crystallization of energy into archetypal experiences. SUMMARY:Canceled - Prenatal Yoga and Strength
DESCRIPTION:Perhaps most importantly\, this hour-long class is a time for you to be with your body and your baby during your pregnancy – which can be a busy and full time!  \n\n\n\nClass will begin and end with quiet\, guided time to connect to yourself and the baby. We’ll take time to gently warm up and cool down as this is essential during pregnancy to help prevent injury and create a sense of wellbeing in the body. We’ll do many postures that encourage the body to softly open and relax\, easing aches and postural pains. In the middle of class we will make our way through a series of movements from Yoga Asana practice\, Ballet Barre\, and classic Strength Training to help to strengthen and stabilize the body. Pregnant bodies tend toward looseness as they prepare for birth\, so adding strength and stability into the mix is highly beneficial. During this portion\, Neva will always offer options to increase or decrease the workload. While exercising during pregnancy (when cleared by a midwife or doctor to do so) can be an important piece of maintaining a healthy body and mind\, overexercising can take away precious energy. Neva will encourage each person to work at their own pace\, approach their body with kindness and care\, and tailor each session to their unique needs. There will also be a time during each class specifically focused on the pelvis and the pelvic floor. This intimate work is vitally important during pregnancy\, birth\, and post-partum. Having familiarity and comfort working with the pelvis in a supportive way can truly change a birther’s experience of the whole process of bringing new life into the world.  \n\n\n\nClass will include a variety of props to help offer a well supported practice. Ideally\, each session will leave participants feeling calmer\, stronger\, and more connected to themselves and their baby. \n\n\n\nNeva has over 15 years of teaching experience with a combination of ballet barre\, yoga\, meditation\, contemporary dance\, acrobatics\, and somatics. She has many years of teaching pre- and post-natal embodiment\, including training new instructors how to do so. She is the mother of a 3-year-old named Dion and during this series will be in the second trimester with baby #2.

SUMMARY:One is Not Enough Performance with Nita Little
DESCRIPTION:All intelligence is collective intelligence. \n\n\n\nMichael Levin \n\n\n\nWith a focus on practices of physical attention developed from Contact Improv and explored in the Ensemble Dancing setting\, this 35 minute dance driven project engages actions of trance in finding\, organizing\, and creating new modes of physical attention and communication – defining the human by our relational practices of intelligence. \n\n\n\nLead choreographer Nita Little\, in co-creation with Hudson Valley based choreographers- Neva Cockrell\, clyde fusei forth\, Leighann Kowalsky\, Nuria Bowart and more guide local Hudson Valley dancers- Karina Mehta\, Cam Moreno\, Lauren Mark\, Nikita Patel\, Glenna Yu\, Mandy Hackman\, Gabrielle Revlock\, Laure Marin\, Christine Bornath and Timna Jahoda-Kligler through a score-based premiere. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExploring intelligence here\, means working on notions of the multiple self to reveal the environmentally entangled human oriented toward being made different by more than human circumstances and the new knowledge that unveils. Actions of investigation and communication between dancers are scored through directed attention acting as a refractive lens that articulates serious states of play. This compositional project is highly dependent upon dancers who have choreographic skills to be able to move away from a dominant visual concern and into other levels of articulation and compositional choice making. Adding exteroception to the definition of the somatic\, scores for improvisations organize physical attention across bodies and include set materials that shape the space.  \n\n\n\nThis work is collaborative on every scale of making\, in its production and performance. Driving the timeline is an edit of a lecture by James Bridle\, Planetary Intelligence. This auditory focus sustains an investigation of the definition of intelligence\, as an ability to communicate on the level of communion\, not just an ability to speak or send messages. Six to ten dancer/choreographers will each be given sections of this lecture in advance to develop scores in collaboration with dancers of their choosing that nest and weave together\, forming the fabric of this performance. The goal is a 35 minute work that embeds the audience in explorations\, articulations and evaluations of intelligence\, not as a thing\, but as a process\, not as a single being\, but as a collective of beings. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: Most of the performance will take place in the Barn\, which has a wide and level entrance and is wheelchair accessible. Weather depending\, there may be part of the performance that takes place by the lake\, which is a 5ish minute walk down a grassy hill\, that is somewhat steep and uneven ground. SUMMARY:Ameri-clecti-cana Performance
DESCRIPTION:In this upside-down world\, The Downside Up has made it our mission to boost your spirits with our signature Americlecticana sound – a dash of country\, a dollop of blues\, a splash of jazz\, and a spoonful of rootsy rock. \n\n\n\nOne February day in 2023\, Al\, Amy and Evan met in Evan’s living room to learn some tunes and find a common sound. \n\n\n\nWhat we’ve birthed over two years of writing and rehearsing\, pop-up shows\, potlucks\, and parties is deeper and wider than we ever imagined  \n\n\n\nSometimes souls operate at cross purposes. Sometimes purposes cross and souls cooperate. Downside Up is a case of the latter. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDownside Up\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecording engineer\, producer\, songwriter\, bassist and environmentalist Al Hemberger owns and operates The Loft Recording Studios in Bronxville\, NY\, which has recorded many gold and platinum songs and hosted hundreds of artists\, from Rihanna to Rod Stewart to NSync. Google him for more info.  \n\n\n\nalhemberger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeacon songwriter and chanteuse Amy Soucy studied musical theater and more\, but found her home and honed her chops in the folk scene. Her first album won her a coveted Emerging Artist spot at Falcon Ridge Folk Fest and 1st place in CT Folk’s Song Competition.  \n\n\n\n@resonantheart \n\n\n\namysoucymusic.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuitarist Evan Schwartz predates YouTube and electronic tuners. He learned to play guitar at “the local blues jam\,” where they throw you into the fire and you learn or burn. \n\n\n\nFacebook \n\n\n\n\n\nPerformance Location\n\n\n\nWildHeart is located on 46+ beautiful acres in the Hudson Valley at 183 East Road\, Wallkill\, NY. This event will take place in the Barn\, the large building at the end of the driveway. You can park in either of the two parking areas on the right side of the driveway before you get to the Barn. There are also a few spots in front of the Barn. SUMMARY:Touching Fat: Sensual Somatics for Fat People
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Jules Pashall and Scarlet Tunkl\, this retreat will explore and celebrate the magic of being present and embodied with fatness in community with other fat folx. We will use touch\, movement\, noise making and creative play to experience the sensuality inherent in our fat tissue. This retreat will uplift fatness as more than just a descriptor of bodies\, but as an energy and access point to sensual presence. Each activity will pull inspiration from the formal qualities of fat: soft\, lush\, velvety\, deep\, full\, whole. This retreat will have a special focus on touch so that we can learn new things about how we like to be loved\, touched and tended.
